What Every Contractor Needs to Know Before Getting on Site

If you’re working with Sealy Signs, safety isn’t just important—it’s non-negotiable.

To make sure every job runs smoothly and safely, all signage installers must follow a set of clear safety and compliance requirements. This page explains everything you need to do before you start work, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), site readiness, and the Contractor Safety Acknowledgement Agreement.

It’s all about protecting you, your team, and our clients—while keeping things professional and hassle-free.

Your To-Do List Before Starting Work with Sealy Signs

#1 Read and Understand Our SWMS

Sealy Signs provides a detailed Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) that covers all high-risk construction activities, including working at heights, using tools and equipment, and managing environmental risks.

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Read through our SWMS carefully.
  • Make sure every team member is familiar with the controls, PPE requirements, and emergency procedures.
  • Go over it as a team before any work starts.
  • Keep a signed copy of the SWMS with you on-site at all times.

#2 Submit Your Own SWMS

You also need to create and submit your own SWMS for the specific tasks you’ll be completing.

  • Your SWMS must be aligned with our documentation.
  • Submit it before arriving on site—we’ll review and approve it before you can begin work.

#3 Complete the Contractor Safety Acknowledgement Agreement

Before you can work with us, you must fill out, sign, and return the Contractor Safety Acknowledgement Agreement.

Here’s what it involves:

  • Download or collect the agreement from this page.
  • Fill in your business details, including ABN and contact info.
  • Confirm you have current Workers Compensation and Public Liability insurance (minimum cover to be specified).
  • Sign off that all team members are properly trained and licensed (e.g., EWP where required).
  • Agree not to contact or approach Sealy Signs clients for 12 months after any job.
  • Accept full responsibility for any safety breaches, incidents, or insurance claims.
  • Return the completed and signed agreement to your Sealy Signs contact before any work begins.

#4 Get Your PPE and Site Readiness in Order

  • Show up with the right gear: hard hats, high-vis, steel-capped boots, gloves, etc.
  • Check the weather forecast and plan accordingly.
  • Make sure your work area is tidy, secure, and safe from unauthorised access or falling object risks.

#5 Stay Licensed and Trained

  • Every worker must have a valid Construction Induction Card.
  • If you’re working at heights or using an Elevated Work Platform (EWP), you must hold the correct certification.
  • A trained first aider needs to be present during all operations.

#6 Report Issues and Keep Your SWMS Updated

  • Report any incidents, near misses, or site hazards immediately.
  • Update your SWMS as needed—especially if conditions change.
  • Keep all documents on file until the project ends, or for two years if there’s an incident.
